Rowton Castle

We travelled to Rowton Castle to photograph this wedding, which was just on the outskirts of Birmingham. This wedding day was truly spectacular, from the house the girls booked to get ready in, to the magnificent castle that hosted the reception, the setting was just perfect.

Laura was actually at University with me, so catching up whilst photographing her wedding was a real treat. Her family welcomed us with open arms, ensuring that we were fed and watered throughout the day, which is always so appreciated!

Seeing Laura in her wedding gown was such a wonderful moment – I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room.

Rowton Castle were the perfect hosts too – from the outdoor ceremony to the evening party, every detail was so carefully considered. I mean that place is stunning! the grounds lend themselves perfectly for some beautiful couple portraits – whether it’s the huge fir trees that line the driveway or the patio at the back, there’s a photo opportunity everywhere.

All of your guests gather during the cocktail hour between ceremony and the wedding breakfast, and for a photographer this is such a great time. The drinks flow, and slowly you see personalities that were otherwise guarded. For us, these are the photographs that matter – the portraits that are real and those that have feeling!
